Fire detection systems and emergency lighting

We design, install and maintain conventional and addressable fire detection systems to EN 54, gas detection systems and emergency lighting.

A fire detection system picks up smoke, heat or flame in the early stages of a fire and raises the alarm, so people can leave the building in time. Pyroprolipsi holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for the study, design, installation and maintenance of fixed fire detection systems.

What we design and install

This area covers:

  • Conventional and addressable fire detection systems, to EN 54
  • Local detection systems (extinguishing control panels and similar), to EN 12094
  • Gas detection systems
  • Fire-resistant cable
  • Emergency lighting

Conventional or addressable system

In a conventional system the detectors are wired in zones, and the panel shows which zone detected the fire. In an addressable system every detector and call point has its own address on a loop, so the panel shows the exact location. The first suits smaller buildings, the second large buildings with many rooms.

Each component is certified to the relevant part of EN 54: control panels and power supplies to EN 54-2 and EN 54-4, heat detectors to EN 54-5, smoke detectors to EN 54-7, sounders to EN 54-3 and manual call points to EN 54-11.

Manufacturers we have worked with in this category: Unipos, SD3, Global Fire Equipment (GFE), Horing Lih and Cooper Menvier for fire detection, Olympia Electronics and Cooper Menvier for emergency lighting.

Gas detection, local detection and emergency lighting

Gas detection systems warn of a leak before a dangerous atmosphere builds up. We have installed explosive gas detection systems in hotels, restaurants and industrial plants.

Local detection controls a suppression system in one room. The extinguishing control panel receives the detector signals, sounds a warning and releases the extinguishing agent, in line with EN 12094.

Emergency lighting and exit signs guide people to the exits when the power fails. Fire-resistant cable keeps circuits such as sounders working for the time set by its certification.

From the study to maintenance

The work starts with the study: we set the type of system, the zones or loops and the position of every detector, call point and sounder. We then source the equipment from recognised manufacturers.

The same team builds the wiring for fire detection, local detection and gas detection, installs the equipment, commissions the system and takes care of its maintenance.

FAQ

What clients ask us most

Do I need a conventional or an addressable system?

A conventional system is usually enough for smaller buildings, while large buildings with many rooms are better served by an addressable one. A conventional system shows the zone where the fire was detected. An addressable system shows the exact location, because every detector has its own address. The fire safety study for the building makes the final call.

What is local fire detection?

It is a detection system that protects one specific room and releases its suppression system, for example in an electrical room or a server room. The extinguishing control panel receives the detector signals, sounds a warning and releases the agent, with manual release and abort buttons. These systems follow EN 12094.

Where is a gas detection system needed?

Wherever there is natural gas, LPG or another flammable or toxic gas, such as commercial kitchens, boiler rooms, car parks and industrial plants. The detectors pick up a leak and raise the alarm before a dangerous atmosphere builds up. We have installed such systems in hotels, restaurants and industrial plants.

Why is fire-resistant cable needed?

Because circuits that must keep working during a fire, such as sounders and beacons, must not fail when the fire reaches the wiring. Fire-resistant cable keeps working for the time set by its certification. We supply and install it as part of the fire detection wiring.

Do you maintain fire detection systems?

Yes. The company's ISO 9001:2015 certification covers the study, design, installation and maintenance of fixed fire detection systems. The team that installed your system knows its layout and can inspect and maintain it. Contact us to agree the maintenance you need.
